As part of Harry’s campaign to involve young people in democracy, he is holding a series of public Q&A surgeries with Members of Parliament in Sheffield.
At 2pm on Wednesday 27th of July the first of these sessions will take place with David Blunkett, MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough. Harry will chair the Q&A between young people and Mr Blunkett. All the sessions are open to the public and any young person can attend.
“This is the first time in Sheffield that young people can speak to their MP and their Youth Parliament Members. It’s promising that Sheffield MPs have agreed to this scheme, and I hope the session with David Blunkett and the others to follow will be a success. It’s my wish that this will start a trend of young people taking part in politics and questioning the people they’ve elected.” – Harry MYP
Three more surgeries are planned in the following days with the Sheffield MPs Angela Smith, Clive Betts, and Meg Munn:
- Angela Smith – 2pm July 28th – The ARC, Town Hall, Manchester Road S36 2DT
- Clive Betts – 5pm July 29th – Crystal Peaks Library, 1-3 Peak Square S20 7PH
- Meg Munn – 3.30pm August 2nd – Woodseats Library, Chesterfield Road S8 OSH
Harry encourages as many young people as possible to attend these open public meetings so that he and MPs can be held accountable to the people they represent.
